Dental Bridge![]() What Are Dental Bridges and Who Needs Them?A dental bridge is a permanent fix to replace a missing tooth or more with replacement teeth. The bridge is an array of artificial teeth with anchoring crowns at both ends to hold the bridge in place. Dental bridges are as practical as they are aesthetic. Once installed they help you talk and eat better while restoring the appearance of your teeth. Before you can be considered for dental bridges, we need to make sure you have strong natural teeth around the missing tooth space. These are necessary to hold the bridges in place. If you are missing too many teeth, then bridges may not be a suitable option for you. Also, people who cannot get dental implants for medical reasons can be better suited for dental bridges. What Is a Dental Bridge Procedure Like?Usually, a dental bridge procedure will require two appointments. First, our team will review your medical history to ensure that you can have a dental bridge procedure. We will also examine your mouth to ensure that any signs of tooth decay or gum disease are treated. Then we will conduct an x-ray for more details while taking measurements of your teeth. We will then prepare the surrounding teeth that would receive and hold the bridge in place. Our team would carefully remove the necessary quantity of enamel on those teeth to allow them to receive the bridge conveniently. Then we would take impressions of the entire space which creates models for the permanent bridge. The dental bridge would then be created according to your impressions, with the materials that are best suited for you. After this, we would place a temporary bridge that will be removed and replaced with the permanent bridge at the next appointment. Once the final dental bridge is installed, it will be adjusted to ensure that it fits perfectly. Using a Dental BridgeAdditional visits may be recommended so that we can check the framework of the bridge and also your bite. As you get familiar with the new bridge in your mouth, you will be required to eat softer meals and avoid chewing on tough food or items. You should be able to return to more solid meals as soon as we clear you. Once placed, a dental bridge can last well over 10 years. Maintaining healthy oral hygiene is necessary to keep the remaining teeth in good condition. Regular check-ins with us will ensure your dental bridge lasts a long time.
